Juror Heather Anne Leavitt has been using cake as her medium since 2005.  Her bakery in Ann Arbor, Sweet Heather Anne, specializes in creatively designed cakes.  She selected 25 cake stands and cake sculpture entries submitted by contemporary artists from diverse media.  Selected artists include (alphabetically) Tara Barnes-Stumpf, Lisa Bradley, Kaitlyn Brennan, Elizabeth Coleman, Kris Cravens, Adrienne Eliades, Craig Hinshaw, Urban Jupena, Janet Kelman, Dganit Moreno, Ryana Lawson, Charlotte Martin, Stephanie Osser, Elizabeth Ruskin, Grace Southerland, Sally Anne Stahl, Kristine Stewart, Katie Susko, Ruth Tyszka, Molly Uravitch, Karen Wise, Lineke Zuiderweg, and Mieke Zuiderweg.

First prize was awarded to Tara Barnes-Stumpf; Second prize to Lisa Bradley; and honorable mention to Craig Hinshaw.  Prizes were donated by “Jiffy” Mixes of Chelsea Milling Co., and Zingerman’s Community of Businesses.

Each and every cake stand or cake sculpture is for sale.  A portion of the proceeds will support the Dinnerware Museum. The exhibit closes September 4th, and purchased cake stands can be picked up after that or can be shipped at the new owner’s expense.

To purchase a cake stand or cake sculpture, please email Margaret Carney at director@dinnerwaremuseum.org.  Please indicate whether you will be picking up the cake sculpture or cake stand in person or whether the work will be shipped at the close of the exhibition (no international shipments).  The purchaser will then be sent an invoice via Paypal. Thank you for supporting these artists and the Dinnerware Museum.
